Key Features:

Distinctive Appearance: A small, vibrant freshwater goby from the genus Stiphodon, known for its stunning blue iridescence in males, often appearing as electric blue or turquoise patterns across the head and body. Females are typically more subdued in coloration with earthy browns and faint markings.
Graceful Swimmer: A bottom-oriented fish that uses suction-like pelvic fins to cling to rocks and glass. Moves in short, deliberate bursts while grazing surfaces, especially in flowing-water environments.
Behavior: Peaceful and highly active grazers. Males can be mildly territorial with each other but are generally non-aggressive toward other species.

Care Requirements:

Tank Conditions:
Requires a well-oxygenated aquarium with strong water movement, mimicking fast-flowing streams. Ideal temperature is 72–78°F (22–26°C). Prefers clean, slightly alkaline to neutral water with smooth stones, driftwood, and plenty of surfaces for algae growth. A mature tank is essential for stable food sources.

Diet:
Primarily herbivorous micro-grazer. Feeds on algae, biofilm, and aufwuchs. Should be supplemented with spirulina-based foods, algae wafers, and occasional finely prepared frozen foods like daphnia or baby brine shrimp. A well-established tank is critical for long-term health.

Compatibility:
Very peaceful and suitable for community aquariums with other calm species. Best kept with small, non-aggressive fish that do not outcompete them for food. Avoid aggressive bottom dwellers or fast-feeding species that may deprive them of food access.

Size and Growth:

Adult Size:
Typically reaches 3–6 cm depending on sex and conditions.

Growth:
Growth is steady but dependent on availability of natural biofilm and stable, oxygen-rich water. Males develop stronger blue coloration as they mature, especially in high-flow environments with abundant grazing surfaces.
