Newlands Home & Garden Centre, also known as Newlands Garden Centre, operates Newlands.ie from New Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, D22 PK06, Ireland. This notice covers personal information handled through our online shop, customer enquiries and recruitment applications.
For privacy enquiries or to exercise your rights, email web@newlands.ie, call 01 459 2013 or write to us at the address above.
Information you share with us
Depending on how you interact with us, information can include your name, email address, telephone number, billing and delivery addresses, order details, account information and messages sent by email, contact form or chat. When you apply for a role, it includes your CV and the information you supply with your application.
When browsing or ordering, technical and transaction information may also be processed, such as your IP address, browser, device, pages viewed, payment status and fraud-prevention signals. Payment providers process the payment details needed to complete your purchase.
Why we use information
- Orders and customer service: to take payment, fulfil orders, arrange delivery or collection, handle returns and respond to requests. The legal basis is performance of a contract or steps you ask us to take before entering one.
- Business records: to meet applicable accounting, tax and other legal obligations.
- Security and disputes: to protect the shop, prevent fraud and establish or defend legal claims. These are legitimate business interests, balanced against your rights.
- Marketing: to send communications where we have your consent, or another permission allowed by applicable electronic-marketing law. You can unsubscribe or object at any time.
- Recruitment: to assess and communicate about your application, take requested pre-contractual steps and meet relevant legal obligations.
We need certain contact, payment and delivery details to fulfil an order. If you do not provide them, we may be unable to supply the requested service.
Shopify and other service providers
Our online store is powered by Shopify. Information is processed by service providers involved in running the shop, taking payments, communicating with customers and delivering orders. Relevant information may also be disclosed to professional advisers, authorities or others where required by law.
Shopify may process information for its own purposes in connection with services such as Shop and Shop Pay. See Shopify’s Consumer Privacy Policy for details. Other services you choose to use have their own privacy notices.
International processing
Shopify and other providers may process information outside Ireland and the European Economic Area. Applicable data-protection rules require appropriate safeguards for restricted transfers, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your data.
Cookies and your choices
Cookies and similar technologies support functions such as the basket, checkout, security and saved preferences. Non-essential analytics and advertising technologies require consent where applicable. You should be able to refuse or withdraw that consent as easily as you give it.
Use the cookie controls displayed on the website, where available, to manage your choices. Your browser can also block or delete cookies, although doing so may affect shopping functions. Contact us if you cannot find the controls you need.
Marketing preferences
You can stop marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in a message or by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. Essential order, delivery, security and service messages are separate from marketing.
How long information is kept
Retention depends on the purpose and applicable requirements. Order and accounting information is kept for relevant tax and record-keeping obligations; customer-service records for resolving enquiries, complaints and potential claims; and application records for the recruitment process and relevant legal requirements. Marketing preferences may be retained to respect an unsubscribe request.
Information should be deleted or anonymised when no longer needed. You can ask us for the retention period or criteria applicable to a particular record.
Your data-protection rights
Subject to the conditions in data-protection law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and can object to direct marketing at any time. You also have rights concerning solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Requests are normally free. A fee or refusal is permitted only in limited circumstances allowed by law. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month; where a lawful extension is needed, we will explain it within that month.
Security, children and other websites
Appropriate technical and organisational measures are required to protect personal information. No online service can promise absolute security. Please do not send payment card details or unnecessary sensitive information by email or chat.
Our online purchasing services are intended for adults. A parent or guardian who believes a child has supplied information can contact us. External websites have their own privacy practices; please read their notices before sharing information.
Questions, complaints and updates
Please contact us with any concern about your information. You also have the right to complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission or your relevant supervisory authority.
We may update this notice to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The version displayed on this page is the current published notice.
