Synodontis Petricola, also known as the Pygmy Synodontis or Cuckoo Catfish, is a small and attractive species of catfish that hails from the freshwater rivers and lakes of Africa. This peaceful and fascinating fish is highly sought after for its unique appearance and social behavior.
Origin: Synodontis Petricola is native to the rocky shorelines and rapids of Lake Tanganyika in East Africa, particularly found in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Zambia, and Burundi.
Temperature: The ideal water temperature for Synodontis Petricola is between 75°F to 80°F (24°C to 27°C). Maintaining a stable and warm temperature is essential for their overall well-being.
Housing: Keeping Synodontis Petricola requires a spacious aquarium of at least 30 gallons, as they are an active species that appreciates room to swim and explore. They prefer an aquarium with plenty of hiding spots such as caves, rocks, and driftwood. A soft sandy substrate is also recommended to mimic their natural environment.
Feeding: Synodontis Petricola is primarily carnivorous and will accept a variety of foods in the aquarium.
