Overview
An ornamental male Siamese fighter. Adults reach about 6–7cm in body length. Colour and fin form are selectively bred traits rather than separate species. This listing is for extra large male halfmoon siamese fighter; individual colours and patterns can vary.

Behaviour
Keep one male per aquarium. Never house two males together or use a small divided tank as a permanent solution. This is a surface-oriented fish that also needs quiet resting places.
Tank Size
Our recommended minimum is 40 litres with a base around 45 × 30cm for one male. Use a heated, filtered aquarium with a lid and a small air gap above the water. Bowls and unfiltered vases are unsuitable.
These are adult housing recommendations; choose more space when adding tank mates. Allow for space occupied by substrate and décor when comparing aquarium capacities.
Compatibility
A dedicated aquarium is the safest option. Consider companions only in a substantially larger tank, around 80 litres or more, with a separation plan. Avoid fin-nippers, male guppies and other bettas; shrimp may be hunted.
Diet
Use a complete betta pellet as the staple, with occasional daphnia or brine shrimp. Feed small measured portions and remove leftovers instead of continually topping up food.

Baffle a strong filter outlet so the fish can swim without being pushed around. Provide smooth plants or broad leaves near the surface for resting, and avoid sharp ornaments. Keep access to the surface clear. Inspect appetite, fin edges and breathing daily.
Add only to a fully cycled aquarium. Keep ammonia and nitrite at 0mg/l. Start with a 25–30% weekly water change using dechlorinated, temperature-matched water and adjust to test results and stocking. Rinse biological filter media in removed aquarium water rather than under the tap.
