The landscape
Behind the layout
A fallen branch is the starting point for James Starr-Marshall’s 28-litre aquascape. Five moss varieties soften the wood and lava rock, creating a miniature landscape where texture takes the place of colourful stem plants.
Bogor, Spiky, Flame, Weeping and Christmas moss each bring a different growth habit. Attach small portions to the hardscape and leave space for their shapes to develop. The original planting plan lists some mosses in more than one format; the cards below group them by variety.
