How Click & Collect works for live fish:

Place your order online and choose Click & Collect at checkout. Please wait until you receive confirmation from us that your order is ready before travelling to the store.

Your fish will be held for collection by our Aquatics team at Newlands Home & Garden Centre, Clondalkin. When you arrive, bring your order confirmation and a member of the team will prepare your livestock for collection.

Please note: live fish are not shipped or delivered. Collection times can vary depending on livestock preparation and availability, so please wait for your ready-to-collect confirmation before setting off.

Female Crowntail Betta (Betta splendens) is a selectively bred Siamese fighting fish for a mature, heated freshwater aquarium.

Overview

  • Scientific name: Betta splendens
  • Group: Bettas
  • Temperament: Individual temperament varies; monitor interactions

Aquarium and water conditions

  • Temperature: 20–28°C for tank-reared bettas as a general guide
  • pH: 6.0–8.0 as a general guide
  • Setup: Filtered aquarium with gentle flow, plants and resting places near the surface
  • Tank size: Choose for an adult fish and any carefully chosen companions

Behaviour and compatibility

Provide cover and monitor aggression if kept with other bettas; a community arrangement must have enough space for each fish.

Diet

Offer a quality betta food and supplement with suitable small frozen or live foods. Feed modest portions.

Care notes

Keep ammonia and nitrite at zero, test water and change it regularly. Provide an accessible air space above the surface and a secure lid. Confirm the exact water needs of your stock before combining fish.
