View full detailsChoose for how wet your garden really is
A border that stays moist is different from a boggy patch or a pond margin. Hostas, Japanese primroses and Ligularia suit moisture-retentive ground in appropriate light, while selected irises, water avens and marsh marigolds offer options for wetter positions. Check each product’s planting advice before grouping them together; the whole range should not be planted at one water level. Use leaf shapes and flowering heights to build a layered display. For standing water or persistent winter flooding, ask our team about drainage and specialist marginal planting.
Check whether the soil stays moist, becomes waterlogged or has standing water for long periods.
Moist-border plants and pond-margin plants have different requirements. Follow the individual product guidance.
Give large hostas, Ligularia and vigorous irises room, and water moisture-loving plants during dry spells.
