Java Whip Scorpion | Typopeltis sp. Java

At a Glance

Lifespan In captivity, Java Whip Scorpions can live for several years, with proper care extending their lifespan. These arachnids require minimal handling and are best observed in their enclosure, making them a low-maintenance but highly interesting pet for experienced keepers.
Activity These arachnids are nocturnal and tend to be reclusive, preferring to hide under logs, rocks, or leaf litter during the day. They are known for their unique defense mechanism of spraying a vinegar-like acidic substance when threatened, which has led to the common name "vinegaroon." Despite their intimidating appearance, they are not venomous and pose little threat to humans.
Social needs House individually.
