Overview

The pale, pink-eyed albino Bronze Corydoras is a social bottom-dweller, usually traded as Corydoras aeneus. The current scientific name is Osteogaster aenea; this care sheet covers the familiar aquarium albino bronze form.

Behaviour

Keep at least six of the same kind; a single cory often remains nervous. Adults reach approximately 6–7.5 cm.

Tank Size

Our recommended minimum is 80 litres with an 80 × 30 cm footprint for a group of six. Floor space matters more than height; allow extra space for other bottom-dwellers.

Compatibility

Peaceful tetras and rasboras with matching water requirements work well. Avoid large predatory fish and aggressive cichlids.

Diet

Offer sinking catfish pellets directly to the group, with frozen Artemia or bloodworm for variety. They need their own meals and cannot live on other fishes’ leftovers.

Care

Maintain 22–26°C, pH 6.0–8.0 and 2–15 dGH. Use fine sand, shaded resting places and gentle circulation. Leave the surface accessible for occasional air gulps. Siphon waste from feeding areas without removing all the sand. Test for zero ammonia and nitrite; change 25–30% weekly using conditioned, temperature-matched water.
