The Tuxedo Swordtail is a striking and vibrant freshwater fish, cherished for its vivid coloration and distinctive sword-like tail extension, predominantly found in males. This species, part of the Xiphophorus genus, exhibits a captivating contrast of colors, typically featuring a dark, tuxedo-like pattern against a brighter background. Known for their peaceful nature and ease of care, Tuxedo Swordtails are a popular choice among aquarists. These active swimmers add a dynamic element to any aquarium with their playful behavior and elegant appearance. Their adaptability to a range of water conditions and compatibility with various other peaceful fish makes them suitable for both novice and experienced fish enthusiasts. Tuxedo Swordtails are livebearers, meaning they give birth to live, free-swimming fry, making them an interesting species for those interested in fish breeding.

Origin: Tuxedo Swordtails are originally from North and Central America, primarily found in rivers and streams with abundant vegetation.

Temperature: The ideal water temperature for Tuxedo Swordtails is between 22°C to 28°C (72°F to 82°F).

Feeding: They thrive on a varied diet, including high-quality flake food, frozen or live brine shrimp, bloodworms, and vegetable matter.

Water Quality: Tuxedo Swordtails prefer a pH range of 7.0 to 8.2 and appreciate moderately hard water.

Ideal Aquarium Size: A minimum tank size of 75 liters (20 gallons) is recommended for Tuxedo Swordtails. They require a well-planted aquarium with plenty of swimming space and a secure lid, as they are known jumpers.

Lifespan: With proper care, Tuxedo Swordtails can live for about 3 to 5 years.

Community Tank Compatibility: They are peaceful fish and do well in community tanks with similarly sized and non-aggressive species.

Breeding: Breeding Tuxedo Swordtails is relatively straightforward. They are livebearers, and females can give birth to a brood of 20-80 fry every 4-6 weeks. Providing plenty of plants or breeding boxes can help protect the fry from adult fish.
