Growing to an average size of 3 inches (7 cm), Tiger Barbs are relatively easy to care for but are best suited for aquarists with some experience due to their semi-aggressive nature. They thrive in well-planted aquariums with plenty of space for swimming. Their diet is omnivorous, so they require a mix of plant-based and protein-rich foods to stay healthy. Social interaction is crucial for them, and they are best kept in groups of at least six to prevent fin-nipping behavior, which can occur if they feel stressed or bored.

Origin:
Tiger Barbs originate from the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Sumatra, and Borneo.

Temperature:
The ideal temperature for Tiger Barbs ranges between 75°F and 80°F (24°C to 27°C).

Water Quality:
Tiger Barbs prefer slightly acidic to neutral water, with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.0, and water hardness between 5 and 19 dGH.

Aquarium Size:
A minimum of a 20-gallon tank is recommended for a small group of Tiger Barbs. They need ample swimming space and areas to hide.

Feeding:
Tiger Barbs are omnivorous and should be fed a varied diet of flake food, freeze-dried bloodworms, brine shrimp, and plant-based foods.

Lifespan:
With proper care, Tiger Barbs can live up to 5 to 7 years in captivity.

Behavior and Personality:
Tiger Barbs are active and playful but can exhibit semi-aggressive tendencies, especially if not kept in suitable group sizes or in cramped conditions. They are known to nip fins of slow-moving or long-finned fish.
