Carex muskingumensis, commonly known as palm sedge, is a clump-forming perennial grass with narrow, arching leaves that add movement and texture to a garden. It is a popular choice for gardeners in Ireland due to its ability to thrive in moist soils and tolerate both sun and partial shade. Palm sedge produces inconspicuous brownish-green flowers in late spring to early summer, which are followed by small, brownish seed heads that add interest to the plant through fall and winter. Its rich green leaves turn golden yellow in autumn, adding colour to the garden.
