Cirsium rivulare 'Atropurpureum', commonly known as the plume thistle, is a striking perennial known for its deep crimson to purple thistle-like flowers. Unlike its wild relatives, this cultivar does not have invasive tendencies and is prized for its tall, slender stems topped with vibrant, nectar-rich blooms. The flowers attract a host of pollinators, making it a beneficial addition to wildlife gardens. Its foliage is deeply lobed and slightly spiky, adding texture to the garden. This plant is perfect for adding height and color to borders and works well in naturalistic or prairie-style plantings.
