The Mardi Gras Pink Toe Tarantula, scientifically referred to as Avicularia sp. Pucallpa, is a distinct and visually appealing species within the Avicularia genus. This tarantula is particularly noted for its vibrant coloration, which includes shades of pink, purple, and green, reminiscent of the festive colors of Mardi Gras. Originating from the Pucallpa region in Peru, this species belongs to the 'New World' tarantulas, known for their arboreal lifestyle and generally more docile nature compared to their 'Old World' counterparts. The Mardi Gras Pink Toe is a popular choice for tarantula enthusiasts, especially those interested in arboreal species.
Origin:
Avicularia sp. Pucallpa is native to the Pucallpa area in Peru, typically found in tropical rainforest environments where they live in trees and shrubs.
Temperature:
The ideal temperature range for this species is between 75-85°F (24-29°C), with a humidity level of around 70-80%. These conditions replicate their natural rainforest habitat.
Housing:
A vertical terrarium is best suited for the Mardi Gras Pink Toe Tarantula, providing plenty of height for climbing. Include branches, plants, or other structures for climbing and webbing. A substrate that retains moisture, like coconut fiber or sphagnum moss, is ideal.
Feeding:
Their diet mainly consists of insects such as crickets, roaches, and occasionally small moths or flying insects. Feeding should be done 2-3 times a week, depending on the tarantula's size and appetite.
Lifespan:
In captivity, these tarantulas can live for about 10-12 years, with females often living longer than males.
Behavior and Personality:
Mardi Gras Pink Toe Tarantulas are known for their relatively calm and docile nature, making them a suitable choice for less experienced keepers. They are also known for their agility and interesting webbing behavior.

Great product
I purchased two of The Lark Ascending roses recently from Newlands online. This rose is difficult to find locally so was delighted to find it here. The roses arrived promptly and were very well packaged, with both plants looking very healthy. Cannot fault this purchase and service in any way. Looking forward to seeing the blooms this summer!
