The Black Moor Goldfish, Carassius auratus, is a captivating and distinctive variety of fancy goldfish renowned for its striking appearance and unique features. This breed is characterized by its deep black coloration, round body shape, and telescope eyes. Black Moors have protruding eyes that can be black, gold, or silver, depending on the individual. Their tails are typically broad and flowing, enhancing their graceful appearance. Black Moors are a favorite among goldfish enthusiasts and are often sought after for their charming and somewhat comical appearance.

Origin: Black Moor Goldfish are believed to have originated in China, where selective breeding produced this unique color variant.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Black Moor Goldfish is between 18°C to 22°C (64°F to 72°F).

Water Quality: They thrive in a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5 and prefer moderately hard water. Good water quality and regular water changes are crucial to their health.

Aquarium Size: A minimum tank size of 75 liters is recommended for a single Black Moor Goldfish. Due to their slow swimming nature and potential for blindness (telescope eyes), they require a well-maintained and spacious tank with no sharp decorations.

Feeding: Their diet should consist of high-quality goldfish pellets or flakes, supplemented with occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, or bloodworms.

Lifespan: With proper care, Black Moor Goldfish can live for about 10 to 15 years or even longer.

Behavior and Personality: Black Moors are generally peaceful and can be kept in a community tank with other goldfish varieties or non-aggressive fish. Their unique appearance and calm demeanor make them a delightful addition to any goldfish collection.
