Dryopteris erythrosora, commonly known as the autumn fern, is a popular deciduous fern native to East Asia. It is named for its stunning copper-red fronds that emerge in the spring and slowly mature to a glossy, deep green as the season progresses. In the fall, the fronds turn a lovely golden bronze colour before eventually dying back for the winter. This fern thrives in partial to full shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. It's an excellent choice for adding texture and colour to shaded garden beds or woodland gardens.
