The Pearl Danio, scientifically known as Danio albolineatus, is a delightful and attractive species in the aquarium community, appreciated for its striking appearance and dynamic swimming behavior. This species is small, typically reaching a length of about 5-6 cm (2-2.5 inches). The Pearl Danio is characterized by a slender, elongated body with a silver base color. It features a distinctive horizontal stripe that runs from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail fin, which can appear in various shades of pink or orange. The body is sprinkled with small, iridescent spots that resemble pearls, giving this fish its common name. They are known for being hardy and adaptable, making them suitable for a wide range of aquarium settings.

Origin: Pearl Danios are native to Southeast Asia, specifically found in Thailand and Myanmar. They inhabit clear, shallow, slow-moving waters with dense vegetation.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Pearl Danios is between 20°C and 24°C (68°F to 75°F).

Water Quality: They thrive in a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5 and prefer soft to moderately hard water. Consistent water quality and good filtration are important for their well-being.

Aquarium Size: A minimum tank size of 40 liters is recommended for a group of Pearl Danios. They are active swimmers and enjoy being in groups, so keeping them in schools of at least six is ideal for their social behavior.

Feeding: Pearl Danios are omnivorous. They should be fed a varied diet of high-quality flake food, supplemented with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.

Lifespan: In a well-maintained aquarium, they can live for about 3-5 years.

Behavior and Personality: Pearl Danios are energetic and sociable. They are best kept in groups where they exhibit active schooling behavior. They are peaceful and suitable for community tanks with other non-aggressive species.
