Java Yellow Knee Tarantula (Selenocosmia javanensis).

Origin: Yellow Knee Tarantulas are native to Indonesia.

Temperature: The ideal temperature for Yellow Knee Tarantulas in captivity typically ranges between 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit (24 to 29 degrees Celsius). It's essential to provide a temperature gradient within their enclosure, allowing them to move to cooler or warmer areas as needed.

Housing: When keeping a Yellow Knee Tarantula as a pet, it's crucial to provide a suitable enclosure. A glass or plastic terrarium with a secure lid is ideal. Substrate should consist of a mixture of peat moss and vermiculite, offering a humid environment. Provide a hiding place, such as a small shelter or half log, and maintain proper humidity levels by misting the enclosure regularly. Ensure good ventilation while preventing excessive drafts.

Feeding: Yellow Knee Tarantulas are carnivorous and primarily feed on insects, such as crickets, roaches, and mealworms. Offer appropriately sized prey items about once a week. Ensure the prey is appropriately sized; it should be no larger than the tarantula's body.

Lifespan: Yellow Knee Tarantulas have a relatively long lifespan for a tarantula species, living up to 20 years or more in captivity when provided with proper care. Their lifespan can vary depending on factors like diet, habitat, and general health.

Behavior and Personality: Fast and defensive. Experienced keepers only.

Please note: We don't ship live animals. You can order online and choose click and collect, and we will hold it for you.
