The Green Bottle Blue Tarantula, Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens, is a visually stunning species renowned for its vibrant coloration and unique webbing behavior. This species displays a remarkable combination of metallic blue legs, a greenish-blue carapace, and a vibrant orange abdomen, making it one of the most colorful tarantulas in the hobby. Native to Venezuela, particularly in desert-like environments, it's an 'Old World' tarantula species known for being hardy and relatively easy to care for, making it a favorite among both beginner and experienced enthusiasts.

Origin:

Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens originates from the Paraguaná Peninsula in Venezuela, where it inhabits dry, scrubland environments.

Temperature:

The ideal temperature range for the Green Bottle Blue Tarantula is between 75-85°F (24-29°C), with a humidity level of about 40-50%. This replicates their natural, semi-arid habitat.

Housing:

A terrarium with a mix of sand and soil substrate is suitable for this species. They are known for their extensive webbing, so providing structures like cork bark, branches, or plants for web attachment is beneficial. The enclosure should be well-ventilated but secure to prevent escapes.

Feeding:

Their diet typically consists of insects like crickets, roaches, and mealworms. Feedings can be conducted once or twice a week, depending on the tarantula's size and growth rate.

Lifespan:

Green Bottle Blue Tarantulas can live for about 10-15 years in captivity, with females generally having a longer lifespan than males.

Behavior and Personality:

This species is known for its relatively docile temperament, making it a good choice for those new to tarantula keeping. They are more likely to retreat than show aggression when threatened. Their active webbing behavior and stunning colors make them an attractive display species.
