Aquascaping Inspiration

The Power of Silence

Claudio Sartor · Tropica

Claudio Sartor’s 210-litre display celebrates the scale and colour of a densely planted underwater landscape. Ferns, mosses and compact foliage sit alongside taller stems, with red plants providing bright accents among the greens.

The Mountain

Adam Newick & Interpet Aquatics · Tropica

A central triangular rock peak rises above a green jungle in this 100-litre display by Adam Newick and Interpet Aquatics. Smaller grey rocks surround it, with Anubias along the base and Helanthium planted between the stones.

Breezy

DouMing Mok · Tropica

Four stones form the framework of DouMing Mok’s 64-litre Breezy display. Sand covers the aquasoil beneath, and a small selection of green plants keeps the planting palette cohesive.

Green Swamp

David Braun · Tropica

David Braun’s Green Swamp brings seven plant varieties into a shallow 24-litre display. Moss, Anubias and Bucephalandra combine with Hydrocotyle and Hygrophila around cork, stone and branching wood.

Green River

David Braun · Tropica

Inspired by a tropical forest creek, David Braun arranged this shallow 70-litre aquarium to suggest movement from left to right. Seiryu stones and wood establish the flow, with ferns, moss and Cryptocoryne adding green texture around them.

Within the flow

Fabian Beck · Tropica

Fabian Beck’s 54-litre Within the Flow explores planting both below and above the waterline. Wood carries the composition upward, with Anubias and other foliage creating a connection between the submerged planting and the exposed structure.

Two planted islands

Adrie Baumann · Tropica

Two planted islands create the structure of this 300-litre aquarium by Adrie Baumann. Pink Alternanthera Rosanervig and the coloured stems of Limnophila hippuridoides introduce warmth, while different leaf shapes add detail around each island.

A lush green backdrop

Tropica

Fast-growing background plants build a generous green backdrop in this 180-litre Tropica display. Echinodorus and Vallisneria create height, while compact Anubias occupy sheltered spaces beneath them.

A colourful woodland arrangement

Swee Lim Cheah · Tropica

Swee Lim Cheah’s 100-litre aquarium began as an experiment with a triangular arrangement of wood and planting. Over time, it developed into a colourful, densely planted landscape with a darker opening that draws the eye into the scene.

A miniature mangrove landscape

Tropica

A diagonal mangrove root gives this compact 15-litre Tropica display its sense of depth. Anubias Petite nestles around the wood, with Lilaeopsis brasiliensis creating a low carpet at the front.
