Overview

The Dantume Wild-Form Altum is supplied under a trade designation for a tall, striking angelfish. It needs specialist planning, stable soft water and generous adult height.

Supplied size: 2 - 3 cm. Adult size is shown below.

English name Dantume Wild-Form Altum Angelfish
Latin name Pterophyllum altum
Origin South American altum trade form; confirm the batch's exact provenance with our aquatic team
Adult size Around 18-20 cm body length with an overall height that may exceed 30 cm
Typical lifespan 8-12 years
Temperament Territorial, particularly around breeding sites
Tank level Middle
Social needs Plan a suitably sized group or compatible adults with an experienced keeper.

Tank Setup

Aquarium size Plan at least 450 litres, a 150 × 60 cm base and 60 cm or more water depth; adult groups need additional space.
Temperature 28-31°C
pH 4.8-6.2
Hardness 0-5 dGH
Water type Freshwater

Use a mature, tall aquarium with vertical wood, sheltered areas and excellent filtration and oxygenation. Match the supplier's holding water gradually rather than changing chemistry abruptly.

Behaviour & Compatibility

Avoid small fish that can be swallowed and fish that nip fins. Adults may become territorial; select companions for the warm, soft-water conditions.

Diet & Feeding

Offer appropriate small cichlid foods and varied frozen invertebrates. Confirm what the supplied fish is eating before collection.

Routine Care

Use a fully cycled aquarium before adding livestock. Check temperature, appetite and behaviour daily. Test water regularly: ammonia and nitrite must remain at zero. Make regular partial water changes with conditioned water matched to the aquarium's temperature and chemistry. Keep nitrate low and rinse biological filter media in removed aquarium water.

Wild-form describes appearance, not verified wild capture. Confirm identity, provenance and current water conditions with our team before collection.
