Mimulus luteus, commonly known as the Yellow Monkey Flower, is a moisture-loving perennial or short-lived annual native to South America but widely naturalised in damp areas across Europe. It features vivid yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers with red spotting and soft, green foliage. Flowering from late spring into early autumn, it adds a cheerful splash of colour to pond margins, bog gardens, and other damp locations. Its compact size and tolerance for wet conditions make it an excellent choice for naturalistic planting schemes, where it also supports pollinators like bees and hoverflies.
