The Opaline Gourami, a beautiful colour variant of the Trichopodus trichopterus species, is a graceful and eye-catching addition to the freshwater aquarium. This variety is recognized by its marbled blue and white patterning, overlaid with iridescent opalescent tones that shimmer as it moves. Opaline Gouramis are admired for their peaceful yet curious nature, making them an appealing choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists. Native to Southeast Asia, they inhabit slow-moving waters and are well adapted to a range of aquarium conditions, adding both elegance and calm activity to the tank.

Origin: Opaline Gouramis originate from Southeast Asia, particularly Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Malaysia.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Opaline Gouramis is between 24°C to 28°C (75°F to 82°F).

Water Quality: They thrive in slightly acidic to neutral water conditions with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5 and soft to moderately hard water.

Aquarium Size: A minimum tank size of 80 liters is recommended. Opaline Gouramis appreciate a well-planted aquarium with open swimming spaces and areas of shade created by floating plants. They can be kept with peaceful tankmates but may show mild territorial behavior, especially males.

Feeding: Opaline Gouramis are omnivores and enjoy a diet of high-quality flake or pellet foods, supplemented with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia to enhance their color and health.

Lifespan: With good care, Opaline Gouramis typically live for about 4 to 6 years in captivity.

Behavior and Personality: These gouramis are generally peaceful, calm, and curious. They do well in community aquariums with similarly non-aggressive fish. Opaline Gouramis make use of their labyrinth organ, allowing them to breathe air from the surface, and often display graceful, gliding movements. Their stunning coloration and gentle temperament make them a delightful centerpiece fish.

Please note: We don't ship live animals. You can order online and choose click and collect, and we will hold it for you.
