How To Grow Opal Plum Tree
- Opal Plum trees like all plum trees require plenty of water until they establish and during the fruiting season. It can take anywhere from a tree aged two to four years before you see a good harvest. Opal plum trees are a great disease resistant variety which makes the care of them much easier.
- Add plenty of manure in March or feed with sulphate of potash.
- Remove branches that rub across other branches in Spring.
- Provide the tree with a deep soaking every seven to ten days during prolonged dry periods. Slightly dry soil is always better than soggy, waterlogged conditions. Beware of overwatering, which may result in rot or other moisture-related diseases.
