Leopard Gecko High Grade | Eublepharis macularius

Plan the habitat for the adult animal, with secure housing and room to carry out its natural behaviour.

At a Glance

Origin & natural habitat Afghanistan, Pakistan and neighbouring South Asian regions; dry rocky grassland.
Adult size 17–25 cm including tail.
Lifespan 15–20 years.
Temperament Individuals vary; allow time to settle before any handling.
Activity Most active around dusk and at night.
Social needs House individually.

Housing & Setup

Enclosure dimensions are length × depth × height unless stated otherwise. Plan for the adult animal; larger, suitably furnished housing is encouraged.

Adult housing At least 90 × 45 × 45 cm for one adult.
Temperature Basking surface 34–36°C; warm hide 32–33°C; cool end 21–25°C; night around 18–22°C.
Lighting & UVB Low-level UVB with shade: UVI 0.5–1.5 for normally pigmented geckos; albino or reduced-pigment animals need a lower exposure checked individually.
Humidity / moisture Moderate room humidity with a separate damp shedding hide; keep most surfaces dry.
Substrate Paper towel during initial monitoring; a suitable soil/sand blend for established healthy adults. Avoid calcium sand and reptile carpet.
Furnishings & filtration Warm hide, cool hide, damp shedding hide and low stable climbing structures.

Behaviour & Compatibility

House alone to avoid biting, competition and tail injury. Support the body and never grasp the tail.

Feeding & Nutrition

Offer a varied diet of appropriately sized live crickets, locusts and suitable roaches. Feed juveniles daily; adults usually 2–3 times weekly, adjusting for body condition. Gut-load feeder insects and use calcium and a reptile multivitamin according to the product instructions and the animal’s UVB provision. Avoid overlapping vitamin D3 products; ask our reptile team to check the schedule for this animal. Supply fresh water in a shallow dish.

Routine Care

Check temperatures, humidity, appetite and behaviour daily. Replace drinking water and remove waste promptly. Clean bowls and contaminated furnishings regularly; monitor weight and shedding. Arrange advice from an exotics vet for persistent changes in appetite, breathing or movement.

Important Before Buying

Run and check the enclosure before collection. Adult housing requirements apply even when the animal is sold as a baby. Confirm the animal’s current food, age and supplement schedule with our reptile team.

Live Animals Are Click & Collect Only
