The Guianacara Owroewefi is a beautiful and peaceful cichlid species native to South America. With its striking colors and calm temperament, this fish is a popular choice for aquarists who appreciate the beauty and tranquility of cichlids without the aggression commonly associated with the family.

Origin: The Guianacara Owroewefi is native to the rivers and streams of Suriname, a country located on the northeastern coast of South America. It can also be found in neighboring regions, including French Guiana and Brazil. These cichlids inhabit slow-moving waters, flooded areas, and calm sections of rivers with sandy or muddy substrates.

Temperature: The Guianacara Owroewefi thrives in tropical temperatures commonly found in heated aquariums. The ideal temperature range for these fish is between 75°F and 82°F (24°C and 28°C). Maintaining a stable and suitable temperature within this range is important for their overall health and well-being.

Housing: Guianacara Owroewefi cichlids are relatively small and can be kept in aquariums with a minimum capacity of 30 gallons (113 liters) for a small group. Providing a spacious tank with plenty of swimming space is beneficial for their well-being. The tank should be well-filtered, and regular water changes are necessary to maintain excellent water quality. Adding plants, rocks, and driftwood will create a natural and aesthetically pleasing environment for these fish to explore and seek shelter.

Feeding: Guianacara Owroewefi cichlids are omnivorous, and their diet should consist of a combination of high-quality cichlid pellets or flakes, supplemented with live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small crustaceans. Including vegetable matter in their diet, such as blanched spinach or peas, is also beneficial. Providing a varied diet will ensure they receive the necessary nutrients for their health and vibrant colors.

Lifespan: With proper care, Guianacara Owroewefi cichlids can live for approximately 5 to 8 years. The lifespan may vary based on individual genetics, tank conditions, diet, and overall care. Providing a well-maintained tank environment, suitable nutrition, and a stress-free atmosphere contribute to their longevity.

Behavior and Personality: Guianacara Owroewefi cichlids are generally peaceful and have a calm temperament, making them suitable for community aquariums. They are social fish that can be kept with other peaceful and similarly sized tankmates. These cichlids are known for their beautiful coloration, which intensifies during spawning or when displaying courtship behaviors. They exhibit interesting behaviors such as digging in the substrate and forming pairs during breeding.
