Why We Love It
Eranthis are small tuberous perennials with palmately or pinnately lobed basal leaves and cup-shaped flowers held above a collar of deeply lobed stem leaves. Cilicica Group is a perennial, to 10cm in height, with cup-shaped, bright yellow flowers, 3-4cm in width, from late winter, surrounded by finely-divided leafy bracts. Basal leaves are rich green, divided into several lobes. Ideal for planting in the dappled shade of deciduous trees, or naturalised in informal areas of grass. How to Care
Plant winter aconite bulbs in a sunny position or in the partial shade of deciduous trees. Eranthis hyemalis thrive in reliably moist, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting to improve less than ideal soils. Aconites should be planted at a depth of 5cm and a distance of 5cm apart. For natural looking drifts, gently cast the bulbs across the planting area and plant them where they land!
