The Clown Loach (Chromobotia macracanthus) is a popular and colorful freshwater fish, cherished in the aquarium hobby for its striking appearance and playful behavior. Native to the islands of Sumatra and Borneo in Indonesia, Clown Loaches are notable for their bright orange bodies with bold black stripes, making them a visually appealing addition to any suitable tank.

Origin:
Clown Loaches are found in the rivers and streams of Sumatra and Borneo in Indonesia. They often inhabit waters with a strong current and plenty of hiding places.

Temperature:
The ideal temperature range for Clown Loaches is between 25°C and 30°C. They thrive in warm tropical conditions.

Water Quality:
These loaches prefer a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5 and do best in soft to moderately hard water. Stable water conditions are essential to maintain their health.

Aquarium Size:
A minimum tank size of 200 liters is recommended for Clown Loaches, as they can grow quite large, up to 30 cm in length. They are also social fish and prefer to be kept in groups, which requires a spacious aquarium.

Feeding:
Clown Loaches are omnivorous and should be fed a varied diet consisting of high-quality sinking pellets, flakes, and occasional treats like bloodworms, brine shrimp, or tubifex worms. They are also known to eat snails, making them useful for controlling unwanted snail populations in a tank.

Lifespan:
With proper care, Clown Loaches can live for 10 to 15 years, and sometimes even longer in well-maintained aquarium conditions.

Community Tank Compatibility:
They are generally peaceful and suitable for community tanks with other similarly sized, non-aggressive fish. However, due to their size and social nature, they should not be kept with very small or timid fish.

Breeding:
Breeding Clown Loaches in captivity is extremely challenging and rarely successful. They require specific water conditions and a large, well-established aquarium to spawn.
