Key Features:

Distinctive Appearance: A selectively bred variety of Pterophyllum scalare, known for its pale silver-white body contrasted with darker “seal point” markings on the head, fins, and sometimes body edges. The pattern gives it a clean, high-contrast look that stands out in planted aquariums.
Graceful Swimmer: Moves with slow, vertical, and gliding motions, using its long fins to create an elegant, floating presence in the tank.
Behavior: Generally peaceful but can become mildly territorial, especially as it matures or pairs off.

Care Requirements:

Tank Conditions:
Requires a tall, well-maintained aquarium with stable water conditions and gentle flow. Ideal temperature is 76–82°F (24–28°C). Prefers soft to moderately hard water with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Vertical swimming space is important due to their body shape and fin structure.

Diet:
Omnivorous. Eats a varied diet including high-quality flakes, micro pellets, and frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. A balanced diet helps maintain coloration and fin health.

Compatibility:
Generally compatible with peaceful, similarly sized fish such as tetras, rasboras, and Corydoras catfish. May show territorial behavior during breeding or if kept in cramped conditions. Avoid very small fish that may be seen as food.

Size and Growth:

Adult Size:
Typically reaches 4–5 cm at juvenile stage (as provided), but adults of Pterophyllum scalare commonly grow much larger, often 12–15 cm in body height excluding fins.

Growth:
Grows steadily under stable, warm conditions with a protein-rich diet. Juveniles develop long fins and full body height as they mature, with coloration and pattern clarity improving significantly over time.
