About this variety

An excellent dwarf variety only 30cm (12in) high that produces lots of 13-15cm (5-6in) pods each bearing five small, but deliciously tender beans. Broad Bean The Sutton is very suitable for successional sowings commencing late autumn (under cloches) or late winter/early summer in the open. Ideal for the small garden.

When to buy and plant

Use the sowing dates on the packet. Some seeds need indoor sowing and transplanting; others can be sown directly outdoors when conditions are suitable.

Planting and growing

Follow the packet for sowing depth, spacing and germination conditions. Choose suitable seed compost where required, label varieties and avoid letting seedlings dry out.

Aftercare

Thin or transplant seedlings as directed and harden off indoor-raised plants before planting out. Water and feed for the crop or flower you are growing.
