The landscape

Behind the layout

A diagonal mangrove root gives this compact 15-litre Tropica display its sense of depth. Anubias Petite nestles around the wood, with Lilaeopsis brasiliensis creating a low carpet at the front.

Hottonia and Rotala add taller, fine-textured growth behind the foreground. Trim these faster-growing stems regularly to keep the small aquarium’s proportions balanced.
