The Female Guppy, scientifically known as Poecilia reticulata, is a widely popular freshwater aquarium fish, celebrated for its ease of care, vibrant colors, and active behavior. Female guppies are generally larger and less colorful than their male counterparts, displaying more subdued hues and patterns. However, they still exhibit a range of colors and can have various tail and body markings, making each individual unique. Female guppies are also well-known for their prolific breeding capabilities, often giving birth to live young every 30 days or so. They are hardy fish, making them excellent choices for both beginner and seasoned aquarists.

Origin: Guppies are native to northeastern South America but have been introduced to many different habitats worldwide. They are commonly found in warm, freshwater habitats.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for female guppies is between 22°C to 28°C (72°F to 82°F).

Water Quality: They adapt well to a variety of water conditions but prefer a pH between 7.0 and 8.0 and moderate water hardness.

Aquarium Size: A minimum tank size of 40 liters is recommended, especially if keeping a group. The aquarium should have plenty of plants and hiding spaces.

Feeding: Female guppies are omnivorous and should be fed a balanced diet of high-quality flake or pellet food, supplemented with occasional live or frozen foods like brine shrimp or daphnia.

Lifespan: Guppies typically have a lifespan of about 2 to 3 years, though proper care can extend their life.

Behavior and Personality: Female guppies are peaceful and social fish, thriving in groups. They can be housed in a community tank with other non-aggressive species. Their active swimming and social interactions make them a delightful addition to any aquarium.
