Choose pond plants for the right depth
A pond's shallow shelves and deeper water suit different plants. Before choosing outdoor aquatic plants, note the water depth, sunlight and space available, then check each plant's recommended position and eventual spread.
Where planting depth is specified, check how it is measured; it commonly refers to the water above the plant's crown or basket. Plan a mix of heights and seasonal interest without overcrowding. Bring a photograph and your pond measurements to Newlands for help choosing a suitable combination.
