Tips & Advice:

Sowing Outdoors
Sow individual seeds 5cm deep and 15cm apart, in well-drained soil. Protect with cloches or fleece in cold weather. Broad beans are often sown in double rows about 25cm apart. Allow 45cm between each set of double rows. In raised beds, sow single rows 25cm apart.
Aftercare
Pinch out growing tips when in full flower to deter blackfly. Requires support. Keep well-watered, especially in dry spells and at the time of flower setting.
Advice
In cold areas, where the soil is poorly drained, or where there are mice, seeds can be sown 5cm deep in compost, in pots or module trays. Water well, keep in a light position and plant out from March after acclimatising to outdoor conditions.
Harvest
Pick the beans as young as possible for the best flavour. When very young, they can be cooked and eaten in their pods. Broad beans are delicious cooked, cooled and used in salads too.
