A very familiar name in the cherry family this smaller tree is suitable for the cottage garden and best grown against a north facing wall.The abundant crops of large fruit when dark red in colour tend to be quite sour in taste however if left until the colour is almost black they are sweet enough to eat straight from the tree.
A smaller growing Cherry tree the Morello produces heavy crops of large dark red fruits which at this stage of colouring are quite sour to taste and therefore should be cooked before eating however if the Morello is left until the fruits darken to an almost black colour they are then suitable and sweet tasting enough to eat straight from the tree. The Morello
Cherry tree has been given the RHS Garden of Merit Award. The Morello is an excellent reliable variety best grown against a north facing wall.
