Bearded Dragon
How do I set up my bearded dragon’s home?
Once he’s fully grown, you’ll want a wood terrarium of from four to six feet long, two feet wide, and two to three feet high. Your bearded dragon is from a warm, dry environment so you’ll also need a heating source for his home. Your dragon prefers the solitary life.
What can I put in my bearded dragon’s terrarium?
To remind him of the desert of his ancestors, line the bottom of your bearded dragon’s terrarium with two to three inches of calcium sand, or invest in reptile carpet. Carpet is a better choice for younger bearded dragons. Scoop up waste at least once a week, and treat him to fresh bedding once a month.
Be sure to give your bearded dragon a piece of driftwood or rock, to climb a little closer to his heat source, or to hide behind. Add a few branches for hiding and climbing.
Heating & lighting
Bearded dragons are ectotherms. That means they’ll need both a reliable source of heat and a cooler area to stay comfy. Here are some more tips on heating and lighting to keep in mind:
Heating
Your dragon’s habitat should have a thermometer at each end, as well as a hygrometer a device that measures humidity. Your bearded dragon thrives when humidity is between 20% and 30%.
If humidity is less than 20%, a light misting once day is sufficient.
Place your heat light over the basking spot, which should be the warmest area in the habitat during the day: 100 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit (38 to 49 C). The cool end should be about 75 to 85 F (24 to 29 C).
Turn the basking light off at night. Use a ceramic heat emitter or night heat lamp or a heat mat to keep the temperature between 66 and 75 degrees F (18 to 24 C).
Lighting
Bearded dragons are active during day and sleep at night — just like you. Unlike you, they like basking under a UVA/UVB bulb for about 12 hours each day.
For night viewing, switch to a night-specific bulb to keep from disturbing your bearded dragon or leave the heat mat on.
What do bearded dragons eat?
Bearded dragons are omnivores - they eat both plants and meat. Feed your bearded dragon one to two times a day. A young hatchling will mostly eat small insects. But once your bearded dragon is a bit more mature, he’ll enjoy vegetables, too. Make sure to clean his water and food bowl regularly.
Insects: crickets, mealworms and wax worms, dust with calcium supplement twice weekly
Vegetables: chopped dark leafy greens or carrots fed every other day = 25-50 percent of diet, depending upon age
Fruits: apples, bananas, melons once a week = 5 percent of diet
Prepared diets: pelleted blend once daily
Water: Change daily and provided at all times!

Quick Overview - Latin Name: Eublepharis macularius

- Breeding: Captive Bred
- Diet: Insectivore
- Environment: Arid
- Country of Origin: Asia
These hardy saurians come in a variety of colors, patterns and sizes. This is a great species for the home. Imagine a lizard that can vocalize and wash an eye with its tongue with ease. There is a friendly dinosaur in this small package.
Size
Hatchlings measure 3 to 4 inches long. Adult females are typically 7 to 8 inches, and males are 8 to 10 inches. Some males of the giant bloodlines reach nearly a foot.
Life Span
Leopard geckos are long-lived compared to some reptiles. On average you can expect your gecko to live six to 10 years, but many males live 10 to 20 years.
Diet
Live insects are a must for your gecko; they do not eat plants or veggies. The best items to use are mealworms or crickets, but you can treat your pet to waxworms or superworms once a week if you wish. All insects must be first given a nutritious powdered diet for at least 12 hours before being fed to your leopard gecko. This process is called gut loading,” and it is very important to the health of your pet. A shallow water dish with fresh water must be available at all times. It should also be stable, so it cannot be spilled. Cage substrate should be kept dry, so be careful about spillage.
Housing
A 10 - to 20-gallon aquarium houses one or two leopard geckos from hatchling to adult size. Larger tanks tend to cause the geckos to stray away from their proper heat and hide box.Although visibility is reduced, many people use plastic storage boxes as housing. Any cage you choose should be at least 1 foot tall. Be sure to have a secure screen top on your gecko cage that will support a light fixture, provide good ventilation and keep out bothersome cats
Lighting and Temperature
The best way to heat your leopard gecko is by using an undertank heating pad or tape. These are available at any pet store or online. Heating one end of the cage is best.
For viewing, a simple low-wattage light can be placed overhead on the screen-cage top and left on 12 hours a day. Because leopard geckos are active at night (notice their vertical pupils), they do not need to bask under a special UVB light.
Substrate
Newspaper, pea gravel, artificial turf, flat stones or no floor covering are OK. A young or debilitated leopard gecko might consume sand or fine-particle products on the cage floor, and this could lead to intestinal impaction. Leopard geckos actually have a “bathroom” in one corner of their cages, and that area can be spot-cleaned without disrupting the entire system. Do not expose your gecko to commercial plant soils or sands that may contain fertilizer or pesticides.
Handling
In general, do not handle leopard geckos on a regular basis until they settle in and are more than 6 inches in total length. Once your gecko is large enough, it is best to sit on the floor, and let your gecko crawl through loose fingers and hand-over-hand for 10 to 15 minutes per day until they are accustomed to your touch. This taming process takes only five to seven days. Never grab or hold the gecko's tail, or it might be dropped. Often the tail regenerates in less than 40 days.

Mourning geckos are a small gecko species only reaching 3-4inches inches in size. The geckos are mainly light and dark brown in colour with wave like patterning running along their back and down to their tail. This species can be housed together in communal groups without the need for sexing. “Why?….simple they're all female. Mourning geckos are parthenogenetic meaning they do not need a male to reproduce. These geckos will lay fertile eggs once adult.
Where do Mourning Geckos come from?
Although Mourning geckos are known to be endemic to the Pacific region, they have now been introduced to Australia, Central and South America and the Hawaii islands. This species seem to adapt well to different environments however they are often found living in communal groups around costal rocky areas.
How do I keep Mourning Geckos?
Mourning geckos require an escape proof enclosure as the babies hatch out very small and they are able to squeeze through the smallest of gaps. Their sticky feet pads also make it easy for them to climb and run along different surfaces this is why we would recommend a glass arboreal terrarium for this species. Minimum enclosure size for a group of three would be 30x30x45cm. The bigger the space the better just remember to provide plenty of décor including fake or live plants, climbing materials such as cork bark, jungle vines or branches look great and are easy to clean.
Plenty of décor also gives the Geckos space to escape from each other as although they can live happily together they do develop a social hierarchy especially with the adults. You will often hear them squeak or chirp at each other this is their way of communication as well as displays with their body.
Canopy tops or deep domes can be used on top of the enclosure to help provide them with heat and UVB lighting. As Mourning geckos are active during both day and night times a minimum of a 5% output UVB is essential for aiding bone growth and development. Daytime temperatures for this species should remain between 70F-80F, with a night-time drop around 68F. When using heat and basking bulbs we do recommend the use of a thermostat to help prevent the enclosure overheating and causing the animals heat stress.
Water can be provided via the use of a small water bowl or waterfall system. Misting the enclosure once or twice a day will also keep the humidity levels up and the Geckos will drink the water droplets from off the tank and plants in the enclosure. Humidity levels shouldn't drop below 50% as Mourning Geckos do favour humid environments.
The best substrate for this species would be moss peat or coco fibre. This will help make the enclosure look more natural for the Geckos and the soil will also help hold humidity.
Feeding Mourning Geckos is super easy as they will eat a wide variety of live food and also super-foods. Appropriate sized live food such as crickets, locusts, buffalo worms, calci worms and roaches are highly favoured. Being such active geckos with a high metabolism feeding daily is recommended. Regular dusting with calcium powder 3-4 times a week and at least once a week with vitamin powder provides the Geckos with the right nutrients.
Powder foods are also a great product to keep to hand just in case you ever run out of live food and also just to give the Geckos a more varied diet. Pangea, Repashy and other fruit mixes are all great complete foods which will provide your Geckos with the correct nutrition without the added powders and vitamins.

Ceram blue tongue skinkSize
The total length of an adult usually ranges between 18 and 24 inches.
Lifespan
Kept properly, blue-tongued skinks can live for 15 to 20 years, and possibly longer.
Diet
Blue-tongue skinks are omnivorous (eating both plant and animal matter). Generally a diet consisting of 60% plant and 40% animal will provide a healthy mix for your blue-tongue skink. Frozen mixed vegetables, various greens, small amounts of high quality dog food, crickets, mealworms, and thawed pre-killed frozen mice can all be fed to your skink. Fresh water should be provided daily.
Housing
Blue tongue skinks are relatively large lizards that grow quickly, so the minimum recommended enclosure size even for a baby is going to be 4'x2'x2', or 8 sq ft of floor space. Blue tongue skinks are quite active, so if you can afford/fit a larger enclosure, it's strongly advised to do so. Bigger is always better!
Light and Temperature
Blue tongue skinks are diurnal, which means that they are active during the day. And as reptiles, they need UVB lighting as part of their environment to encourage health and wellness. Reptiles use UVB light to create the vitamin D that their body needs, as well as to strengthen their immune system, and stimulate production of endorphins. UVB even helps keep the enclosure free of pathogens. The UVB bulb and fixture should span 1/2 of the enclosure's length, and should be placed on the same side as the heat lamp, because heat and UVB work together.
Unlike humans, blue tongue skinks and other reptiles are cold-blooded, which means that they need external heat for their bodies to work properly. A diurnal (day active) reptiles, blue tongue skinks use heat most effectively from an overhead heat source that mimics the sun. And because they're cold-blooded, they need a gradient of temperatures inside their enclosure so they can warm up and cool down as needed:
Basking surface: 37-40°C
Cool side: 21-26°C
Nighttime: No lower than 18°C
Humidity
Humidity Levels - 40 - 45%
Substrate
Substrate is what we call the bedding or flooring covering the bottom of your blue tongue skink habitat. Since blue tongue skinks by nature like to burrow, always provide at least 4" of substrate depth. This will encourage their natural behaviors they have in the wild. You can use a mixture of coco bark and coconut coir and could add some sand.
Handling
Blue-tongued skinks will consistently reward and surprise their keepers with their friendly and curious personalities. They are great for reptile enthusiasts of all levels, and the unique and intelligent blue-tongued skink just may be the ultimate pet lizard!
