overview
The Apistogramma, commonly known as the Dwarf Cichlid, is a dainty, often brightly colored cichlid. This genus contains approximately 70 species, 20 of which are still waiting for scientific evaluation.
The Apistogramma should be kept in a tank that is 30 gallons minimum, with densely planted groupings. They require plenty of open swimming areas but also need hiding places. A fine gravel to sand substrate is recommended. Although a semi-aggressive fish, the Apistogramma is also timid and should not be housed with large, aggressive fish.
The Apistogramma is an egg layer that prefers to spawn in caves. If the female is not ready to breed when the male is, he will harass her until she is. The female will reciprocate the male's behavior once the eggs are laid if she feels that the cave is too cramped.
The Apistogramma is a carnivore, and will consume a wide variety of foods. Freeze-dried bloodworms and tubifex, flake food, and both frozen and live brine shrimp and worms will make excellent food for these fish.

Max. size: 3.8 cm / 1.5 inches
pH range: 5.5 – 8.0
dH range: 25
Temperature range: 23 – 28°C / 73.5 – 82.5°F
The Lemon tetra is a popular aquarium fish, but more difficult to breed in captivity compared to its famous relative the Neon tetra. The Lemon tetra is endemic to a river in Brazil and can be found nowhere else in the world. The Lemon tetra is a peaceful fish and will work well in a peaceful community aquarium with other species of similar size. The aquarium should be planted, the water should be slightly acidic and the water hardiness should be soft to medium. Since the wild Lemon tetras inhabit a tropical river, the water temperature in the aquarium should not be allowed to drop below 23° C (73.5° F). The Lemon tetras have a quite pale, yellowish colouration that will look more striking if you use a dark substrate in the aquarium.
Lemon tetra habitat and range:
The Lemon tetra is and benthopelagic freshwater species endemic to the Tapajós River basin. The Tapajós River runs through a hot and humid part of Brazil before it empties into the famous Amazon River about 500 miles above Pará. The Tapajós River is roughly 1200 miles long. This habitat is tropical and the water temperature stays between 23 and 28° C (73.5 – 82.5° F).

overview
Red Cherry Shrimp make gorgeous and functional additions to any peaceful freshwater aquarium. Its brilliant red coloration adds a beautiful ornamental quality while its purposeful pursuit for algae and organic debris makes the Red Cherry Shrimp an invaluable aquarium cleanup crew.
The Red Cherry Shrimp have gained popularity thanks to their large appetite for all kinds of freshwater algae. These highly adaptable shrimp do well in any freshwater aquarium with good filtration and water quality. However, Red Cherry Shrimp will thrive in planted aquariums where food and shelter are abundant. Once established in their new home, these active freshwater shrimp are predominantly red in color with interludes of white. Keep in mind that new arrivals demonstrate varying degrees of "redness." They are often clear in appearance until they have properly acclimated and adjusted to their new environment.
If there is a male and female in your aquarium Red Cherry Shrimp will most likely breed. The female will carry a clutch of yellowish eggs under her tail until they hatch in about 30 days. The newly born shrimp will look like miniature adult shrimp and will eat the same thing as the adults. If breeding these shrimp, it is important to keep them in a breeder aquarium with a sponge filter. This added precaution helps maximize survival of young shrimp.
Like all invertebrates, Red Cherry Shrimp are sensitive to copper. Copper-based medications should never be used in aquariums housing ornamental invertebrates. Do not house Red Cherry Shrimp in aquariums with loaches, puffers, and other larger carnivores that will feed on invertebrates.
Red Cherry Shrimp are omnivores that will consume algae, detritus and left over food. If insufficient food is present, supplement with algae tablets or quality flake food or pellets.

overview
The Clown Loach is a must-have fish for many freshwater enthusiasts. It is peaceful and gets along well with almost any tankmate. The Clown Loach is also entertaining to watch and feed. Unlike true nocturnal loaches, the Clown Loach is active during the day but will shy from bright light and hide amongst plant stocks or in rockwork. Best of all, however, Botia macracantha is a voracious eater of nuisance snails that sneak into your aquarium on live plants.
Native to the waters of Indonesia, this member of the Cobitidae family appreciates caves, holes, and other hiding places amongst heavy aquarium plantings, especially when it sleeps. Because the Clown Loach is native to fast moving streams, it prefers good water movement and currents in the aquarium. Since the Clown Loach can grow to an impressive size of nearly 1 foot in length, it should be housed in larger freshwater systems.
Interestingly, the Clown Loach is sometimes referred to as a scaleless fish. But it does, in fact, have small scales embedded in its skin. For best care, feed the Clown Loach small meals several times throughout the day. Younger Clown Loaches will eat most prepared foods while older ones may be more finicky. Prepared foods such as vegetable flakes or tablets along with meaty supplements such as live, frozen, or freeze-dried worms will provide this species with the proper nutrition.

The Red tail shark is a member of the genus Epalzeorhynchos in the minnow and carp family Cyprinidae. The scientific name for the red tail shark used to be Labeo bicolor, but it has today been changed to Epalzeorhynchos bicolor (commonly misspelled as Epalzeorhynchus bicolor). Just like many other popular aquarium fishes with 'Shark' in their common name, the Red tail shark is not really as shark. Common names for this fish include Redtail sharkminnow, Redtail black shark, Red-tailed labeo and Redtailed shark.
The Red tail shark is very popular in freshwater tropical aquariums. It is very beautiful with a vibrantly red tail that contrasts against a pitch black body. The intensity of the coloration can indicate how well your Red tail shark is doing in the aquarium, since a diseased or stressed Red tail shark often develop a more dull and listless coloration. If you care for your Red tail shark, it can live up to 15 years.

Though its body is mostly golden in color, the base of the tail has a black color that extends into the tail.
Native to the rivers and streams of South America, this community-minded, peaceful fish relishes ample hiding places amongst plants, rocks, and driftwood. The Silver Tip Tetra is ideal in community aquariums with other soft water fish of similar size and temperament. Since the Silver Tip Tetra is a schooling fish, keep Hasemania nana in groups of six or more.
The Silver Tip Tetra breeds occasionally in the home aquarium setting but a hospital or "breeding tank" will be necessary. During breeding, the female Silver Tip Tetra will display a fuller looking belly, which helps distinguish them from the males. Slightly acidic water is best for optimal breeding conditions. After the eggs begin to hatch, 12 to 15 hours after being laid, removing the parents will reduce the number of fry lost to predation.

overview
The Praecox Rainbow, otherwise known as the Dwarf Neon Rainbow, is a peaceful schooling fish. Rainbowfish are known for their characteristic large eyes, black or silver band that runs through the middle scale rows, deeply forked mouths, and two dorsal fins.
A planted aquarium with plenty of free swimming places available will provide a good environment for Melanotaenia praecox. A dark colored gravel substrate may intensify the Praecox Rainbow's colors.
The Praecox Rainbow is an egg layer that spawns over a moss substrate. At a temperature of around 75°F, the fry will hatch after six or seven days. Adults should be removed from the fry after hatching. Fry should be fed small pieces of live foods such as brine shrimp.
Although Praecox Rainbows have large mouths, their throats tend to be narrow. With this in mind, foods should not be too large. The Praecox Rainbow should be fed an omnivorous diet of prepared flakes, frozen, and live foods.
